Western Correctional Institution Population

Western Correctional Institution has sourced capacity and count figures in DPSCS PREA materials. A 2017 PREA audit listed 1,753 designated capacity and 1,610 current population. Later 2023 PREA material referenced a 1,564 average count over the prior 12 months. Those figures are prison-population measures, not Allegany County jail booking counts.

Because WCI is a maximum-security state prison, its population is made up of sentenced adult male prisoners in Maryland state custody.
